The singular desire of S.E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of developing Equatorial Guinea, became a reality from the economic growth caused by the extraction of oil in the country. Black gold made Equatorial Guinea the center of Central Africa, thus capturing the attention of different countries of the world. The Government’s educational project gained great relevance from this development process and became the focus of the Government’s plan.
In this context, the Afro-American University of Central Africa in Equatorial Guinea was born, as a culmination of this commitment. The purpose of the same is to raise the scientific, investigative and educational quality in the country, opening the doors to other continents so that they, in turn, can study with a high degree of specialization and professionalization in Africa.
In this sense, AAUCA, according to the wish of its founder, imbued with a pan-Africanist spirit, is a meeting point for civilizations, a convergent focus of men of science with the prospect of becoming an epicenter that radiates science and technology to promote a sustainable development of Equatorial Guinea and the other countries of the world.
The range of degrees offered at this University shows its open mind and reflects its international vocation. From this perspective, his project involves the development of a society and a knowledge economy in which the University becomes the point of convergence and a place of activities, knowledge and practices.
After the construction of the campus whose works began in 2009, the Afro-American University of Central Africa is officially created through Decree Law No. 2/2015 dated December 2, the University is officially inaugurated on August 15, 2019 by SE Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, the official opening was held on December 5, 2019 and classes began on January 27, 2020.
In order to guarantee the educational efficiency and internationalization of the University, the Government of Equatorial Guinea has entrusted this noble initiative to UNESCO for its implementation and accompaniment in its first years of structural, academic and scientific development.
