The analysis of the complexity of the new configurations and social dynamics, with high frequency includes the educational issue in the debate. Education, in a broad sense, has constituted in modernity a factor of the greatest relevance in the construction of the social fabric and of adaptation to the new contexts that result from technological changes, the tensions between the State and the market as well as new axiological scales.

It is in this sense that the Social Education Career is the educational-social practice that is developed with individuals and groups in diverse socio-cultural and institutional contexts.

MISSION

To train professionals in social education, with a tertiary degree of university character, with solid socio-pedagogical and cultural knowledge that enable them to:

  1. a) The development of educational actions in diverse socio-cultural and institutional contexts.
  2. b) The formulation and execution of research programs and projects on socio-educational practices that give foundation, among others, to extension actions.

 

PROFILE OF THE GRADUATE OF THE SOCIAL EDUCATION CAREER

Perfil de egreso El Educador Social es un profesional de la educación con un saber pedagógico y con competencias específicas para el campo socio-educativo, que desarrolla acciones educativas con individuos, grupos, familias o colectivos, para garantizar a los ciudadanos:

  • The right to education throughout life;
  • Maximum access to cultural heritage;
  • Strategies for improving the quality of life;
  • Tools to develop autonomy and the maximum of their capacities for a broad social integration and participation

PROFESSIONAL EXITS IN LANGUAGES, TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION

Currently, social educators work in the following areas:

  • Boarding schools, day centers, programs for family support and discharge of children and adolescents institutionalized for protection.
  • Centers for the deprivation of liberty of adolescents, prisons for adults and programs of non-custodial measures.
  • Programs for street children and adolescents, shelters and day centers for street adults.
  • Youth centers, youth houses, children’s clubs, early childhood centers;
  • Care centers for adolescents and adults addicted to psychoactive substances, both clinics, therapeutic communities, day centers and outpatient facilities.
  • Socio-labor programs for adolescents, youth and adults.
  • Cultural centers, museums, recreation and free time programs, among others.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCESS TO THE RACES

Degree Requirements

  • Have approved the Preparatory Course.
  • Equivalent studies

High School Access Requirements

  • Motivation letter
  • Updated copy of DIP or Passport
  • Selectivity Certificate or equivalent studies.
  • Academic certificate
  • Medical certificate
  • Criminal record
